Last year, my sister in law very generously brought a big hunk of meat that she cut into steaks for us. I asked her if she was going to tenderize or marinade in order to make it more tender, but she thought it would be fine. However, it was a little tough and I think we will remember to tenderize or marinade them the next time.

Angie, you must be our sauce afficiando then. Do you have lowfat suggestions?

So Robyn,I hope you will post your recipe soon for your husband's secret sauce. Share the wealth.

Hubby is the main griller in our house. I do the prep work on a lot of it before he gets home from work and then he relaxes while he grills.

If you are trying to stay on a tight budget you can buy tougher cuts of beef and marinate them longer. This will tenderize them and infuse lots of flavor and you will think it's something much more expensive. I use a fork to poke LOTS of holes in the beef that we will be doing a long marinade on - makes it even better.

Hubby's best thing is BBQ porksteaks. He seasons them with s&p and garlic powder and grills them. Then does a couple of coats of his special BBQ sauce on them while they are on the grill. Then he transfers to a pan on the grill that has more sauce in them and moves to a cooler area of the grill to continue cooking for at least 30 minutes or so. They are super tender and super flavorful!

Love me some good bbq sauces and rubs. When I was in direct sales, I actually was a rep for a company that had bbq sauces and rubs and they got a lot of rewards for their products. In the end, the direct sales company closed but they opened a restaurant in FL and I believe still enter BBQ competitions.

Anyway, I love steaks grilled and hubby uses steak rub on them. But I love BBQ sauce on meats too. Yum!
