MiniMunchers, the ultimate resource for children’s menus in New York City, launched an organic restaurant category today, November 18, 2010. The new category came in response to an organic-conscious mom who contacted the site, frustrated with the lack of information about NYC organic restaurants. At present, MiniMunchers is listing twelve restaurants in this category from their 207 total restaurants. In addition to maintaining the only children’s menu database for Manhattan restaurants, MiniMunchers also rates the “child-friendliness” of City restaurants as well as provides tips for successful NYC dining with kids.

Today is Blog Action Day – A day when bloggers get together and blog about a particular cause. This year’s cause is Clean Water. I know we turn on the faucet and clean water comes out, but do we take time and think about that. I try my best to consider whether or not I’m wasting water. My husband would love it if I flushed a little less and saved it up, but too have limits. Keeping our water clean is a problem. The Ohio EPA declared every single water way in Ohio polluted – every one. To me, that’s a problem. The lakes near us have blooming algae problems and big signs up that say TOXIC. Even the air is bad around the state parks with that problem. There are countries where people don’t have access to clean water at all, so I think we’re really lucky. What can we do in order to keep our water clean? There are things we can think about. Water usage is one of those things we usually take for granted. Most people have stopped turning off the water while they’re brushing their teeth, but what else? …
WORSTPIZZA.COM – If you’re looking for the best pizza in town, would you go to worstpizza.com? Why yes, you just might. Craig Agranoff, “The Pizza Expert” is the founder of WorstPizza.com, and reviews and loads information about pizza parlors and their offerings. My only problem is the search engine used doesn’t search by city, state or by zip, but by word. If you enter Columbus, or Grove City, you’ll get weird results because I don’t think he’s been to our neck of the Midwest. PriscillaWoolworth.com - Priscilla Woolworth has an online eco friendly general store. Browsing the pages are a lot of fun, there is some cool stuff. There are plenty of kitchen items – and since my brother in law didn’t make me a baggie drying rack, maybe the one I found on this site will work. I finally found a drying rack for my mother’s towels, too – when we visit she goes through towels so fast because there isn’t any where to hang them up to dry. Take a look at the neat reusable produce and market bags. EdibleCommunities.com – I found Edible Columbus …
@Bertolli has invited all of us to a tweet-up – Bertolli’s Taste and Tweet (#bertolliitaly) tonight during Desperate Housewives (ABC, 9/8c) – . The Taste & Tweet is to introduce you to the new Into the Heart of Italy Webisodes with Rocco DiSpirito, Marissa Tomei and Dan Cortese. They travel to Italy participate in challenges – that involve food, and Italian Culture and end up with a great family meal. I tried their Chicken Florentine & Farfalle for dinner tonight. We loved the frozen pasta dinner. I served an asparagus side dish with some garlic toast. One package states that it serves 2 . After I heated it, I was in agreement, and so added another bag to the pan because there are three adults sized people at dinner. There were leftovers though, and we’ll eat them for leftover night sometime this week. I like that it only takes ten minutes to cook on the stovetop. When the kids were younger we survived on soccer nights with frozen pasta dinners. It was more important for my kids to sit down with me for a meal, then for us to pick up …

JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® partnered with Chef Devin Alexander, author of “The Biggest Loser Cookbook” and “The Most Decadent Diet Ever!” . Here are some tips from Chef Devin Alexander to help us keep on track with our New Years Resolutions, and healthy eating. SET REALISTIC GOALS -When it comes to exercise, be sure to set realistic goals for yourself and remember that even the smallest incremental step is an improvement. For example, don’t require yourself to begin jogging five miles every morning right away, especially if you’ve been pretty sedentary until now. Instead, start out with simple steps like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking at the far end of the lot, and spending at least 10 minutes of your lunch hour taking a brisk walk instead of surfing the Internet. …
Thanks Debbie Meyer and HSN. Blog Action Day is today and I’m late in doing this. It’s difficult to voice my opinion because Cookerati isn’t a political forum, or even really scientific. It’s about food, kitchens , cooking techniques and sharing ideas about these things. Not everyone believes in climate change. I had a relative say – I don’t believe in global warming, but I do believe there’s pollution – In California. I said, what about Columbus, Ohio? You can see it as you drive into the city – Nope, not as bad as California. What about the fact that every single waterway in Ohio is labeled as polluted by the EPA? Well, he didn’t know about that. They don’t necessarily believe that I’m not making stuff up and not reading about it from a reliable source. My feeling though, is that if you think, really think about what is good for the environment, you’ll make good decisions about the every day choices you make, even the little ones. I’m going to try and keep to the theme of Cookerati though and relate things that we do, because we care, and because we can. Most of the suggestions just …

Reynolds Handi-Vac Bags brought back by Debbie Meyer and HSN
January 3, 2010 - Written by Diana
Really folks, this is great news I was clicking through the shopping networks (you know you do it) and they had the Reynolds Handi-Vac System, plus the bags on HSN. Debbie Meyer – the smart lady who brought us the Green Bags that keep vegetables fresh is bringing it back and they also have the bags sold separately if you already have the system – which I do. So don’t go to EBAY and pay 36.00 for 8 bags, go to HSN and pay 14.90 for 40 bags. If you don’t have the system, I recommend it. I store my peppers in the bags for freezing, as well as onions. I have my ginger stored in the freezer also. You can use it to vacuum all the air out when you freeze your meat, which means it will last longer without freezer burn, or even store your cheese in the fridge without air.

Replace Your Butter with Star Olive Oil
October 5, 2009 - Written by Diana
Star Olive Oil is a delicious alternative to butter in your recipes and healthier too. I use olive oil in my cooking on a regular basis. Olive oil give a nice clean taste to foods without being greasy or heavy. I often slice up my vegetables – like squash and root vegetables, and drizzle olive oil and herbs over top then bake in the oven. My husband loves dipping bread into olive oil with fresh ground pepper. A brush of olive oil and herbs on corn makes a great summer side dish.
