Bolthouse Farms – Flavored Protein Drinks

This morning, we had some chores to do, like mailing off ramen noodles to my daughter in college and depositing checks.  Things that have to be done by a certain time or else.  So I left this morning without breakfast, and I thought, boy I wish I had a Bolthouse Farm Protein Drink (no I didn’t smack my  head).  The protein drinks have the taste of a shake or a smoothie, but these aren’t fruit.  They’re hazelnut latte, vanilla chai or mocha cappuccino like taste, only with whey protein or in the case of the chai, soy protein.  So they are thick, taste good and are really filling.  I usually shared mine with my husband.

We were in a rush though, so I didn’t have one.  After we mailed the package, we stopped off and got some Starbucks, which I love, but I spent more money than I should.  Sometimes, if you think ahead and prepare or have something prepared, you can be more frugal.  I’m sure also, that Starbucks and a pastry wasn’t as good for me as the …

Just Coffee

I found this video that explains how and why Fair Trade Coffee came about.  I tells about the different certifications and what they mean.  Basically it describes how the consumer with their purchasing power can help decide how coffee is produced and how the coffee workers and producers live. The video is long at 21 minutes, but interesting.

Green Mountain Coffee

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters
Fair Trade Organic Certified Coffee
The Taste of a Better World™ I didn’t grow up a coffee drinker.  We weren’t allowed coffee or tea when we were younger.  Two reasons, first, not enough money, so the kids drank water or kool aid, except at meals when we drank milk.  The other is that my mom didn’t believe children should have caffeine.  Well, I never cared for the taste of coffee as a kid, a teen, a college kid, but suddenly a few years ago I slowly started drinking it.  I don’t know why, but the hot chocolate I was used too suddenly seemed too sweet.  I liked the chemical cappuccino from the machines, but they seemed sweet also.  Slowly, I added more coffee and less cappuccino.  Now I still like my coffee sweet, but not overly so.  My daughter drinks it with milk and no sugar, my dad always drank it black with sugar.  Green Mountain Coffee is my favorite, that and Nell’s Breakfast Blend (a Newman’s own brand).  When I started looking for coffee, I decided to …

Cruzan Guava Rum, Piña Coladas and Cool Summer Drinks

July 10, 2008 - Written by Diana

I have some summer drinks I want to share with you.  They’re cool and refreshing and just what you need on a hot summer day.

CruzanGuavaBottleShot

1.  Cruzan Guava Rum – I’ll post a few recipes, but you don’t really need it.  Just put the Guava Rum over some ice and sip it.  The alcohol content isn’t real strong, but the Guava is sweet and good.  You feel  like you are sitting on an island or maybe you just feel like you should be beachside. Be careful though, you may drink the whole bottle without noticing because it tastes divine.

Senseo Coffee system offer

March 17, 2008 - Written by Diana

For Christmas, I knew I wanted a single serve coffee maker. I am the only regular coffee drinker in my house, so I wanted something that would brew one serving at a time. I researched different coffee makers deciding which one I wanted based on price and the reviews that were on the web sites.

One web site had pre-Christmas sale for a complete kit – coffee, mug, coffee brewing station all for a low price of $45.00 about 25.00 less than the normal “on sale” price. I told my husband that this is what I wanted and gave him the link.

What I’m Digging: Caribou Iced Coffee

Caribou Iced Coffee

I love Iced Coffees and Frappacinos and Coolatas and other cups of sweet, frosty coffied goodness. Here’s the thing though, many of these products are overly sweet and very fattening. That’s why I was so pleasantly surprised after sampling Caribou Iced Coffees. They were light, not too sweet and low in calories. So I can have my guilty pleasure without actually feeling guilty. Thus, total pleasure no guilt.

Caribou Iced Coffee comes in three different varieties, Regular Iced Coffee, Iced Coffee with Espresso and Vanilla Iced Coffee. Each ranged from 100 to 140 calories per bottle, with maybe a gram and a half each. And speaking of bottles, here’s something else I liked. The bottle is made of lightweight aluminum instead of glass. I can put one in my purse and it’s not very heavy.

True iced coffee and frappy-type drink lovers might find the Caribou Iced Coffee a little too light for their tests. I’m not one of them. I appreciate it’s lightness, because it has less sugar and other stuff the flavor of the delicious Caribou coffee comes through.
