Circleville Pumpkin Show Recipes

The Circleville Pumpkin show is one heck of a weekend for a band parent.  Our kids want to spend the day at the fair, they play a program and then march in the parade at the end of the day.  Friday we perform at a restaurant for a radio program, practice for a band competition and perform for a football game.  Saturday is the final try at making the grade in a local Band Competition in order to go to the State Competition.

In between, the kids beg, and plead and whine to go to the Pumpkin Show.  Of course, I love the Pumpkin Show because it has tons of pumpkin treats and fun yummy things to eat. I love pumpkin, anything pumpkin.  Plus there are arts and crafts exhibits, shows, food exhibits and competitions, photography exhibits.  Today is usually my favorite day to go.  Our kids have off from school today, tomorrow the rest of Ohio has the day off and it will be more crowded.  People come from all over and Saturday it will be a wall of people.  I love Thursday at the Pumpkin Show.

Here is a Pumpkin Bar Recipe from the Pumpkin Show website.

2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
16 oz. canned pumpkin
4 eggs, beaten
3 cup buttermilk baking mix
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins
cream cheese frosting
Combine sugar, oil, pumpkin and eggs in large bowl and beat one minute. Stir in baking mix, cinnamon and raisins. Pour into greased jellyroll pan. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool before frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 tbs milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cup powdered sugar
Combine cream cheese, butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in powdered sugar and beat again until smooth.

Hi Thanks for stopping by today! These pumpkin bars sound delish!! I actually liked the fauxtatoes, it’s just if someone were expecting them to be just like mashed potatoes, not so much. Have a great weekend!
