Cooking Aids – Complete Idiots Guide
Written by Diana - October 21, 2008 0 CommentsComplete Idiot’s Guides started out geared toward helping the average joe (plumber maybe) figure out computer terms. CIG (Complete Idiot’s Guide) has branched out into many areas including cooking. The number of titles in the trademark series of orange CIG books continues to grow with more than 450 current titles. I looked through two CIG books, though there are many more to choose from.
Complete Idiot’s Guide to Sushi & Sashimi – This books breaks down the Sushi and Sashimi process starting out with what and how to select and care for seafood. Then it goes into what other ingredients to have in your kitchen and what tools you might need. The preparation and cooking techniques are discussed. Finally, we have recipes to follow, making it easy enough even for me to follow.
Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking – This book starts out with the benefits to being a vegan. It addresses how to meet all of your nutritional requirements while at the same time sticking to the vegan rules and discusses about how to plan meals. I liked chapter two, simple substitutions. You learn which foods to subtitute for others. Then it breaks recipes out into the different meal and snack categories for you.
There are many more CIG titles to choose from, these are just a few more examples:
- CIG to Cooking Substitutions
- CIG to Eating Raw
- CIG to Total Nutrition
- CIG to Low Sodium Meals
- CIG to Wine Basics
