Cool Giveaway: Introducing The Wine Holder

The Wine Holder

Cookerati is happy to participate in the Bloggy Giveaways this week. We hope to have a couple of cool products for you, and here’s the first:

My husband and I enjoy both wine and new gadgets so we were kind of tickled when we received The Wine Holder to review. The Wine Holder is such a simple design, yet it’s so cool everyone will ask where you got it.

In essence The Wine Holder is a piece of wood with a hole on top and a 45 degree angle on either end. These angles allow The Wine Holder to sit on your bar or countertop or dining room table without taking up a lot of room. They’re sturdy enough to hold a full bottle of wine, yet small and lightweight enough to store in your utensil drawer.

The Wine Holder gets two big fat thumbs up from Cookerati. Let the brain behind the product tell you a little about it:

How would you like to win a set of three Wine Holders?

As with all contests, I make you work for it. I learned my lesson with the Magic Bullet and Hansen’s giveaways however. No more one word hit and run comments from people who never plan on visiting  us or our sponsors again. We’re building a community, people. So, if you want to win a set of Wine Holders, you have to do a little better than a one word answer. It’s all about interaction. To win, recommend your favorite wine. Tell us why you like it. Is there a particular food that goes best with it? Is there a story behind the wine? Amusing anecdote? Post your recommendations in the comments and the best one wins the trio.

The contest ends Saturday, April 26, 2008. Good luck!

The best wine always seems to be the one I’m drinking!

I LOVE the wines from Apple Barn Winery in Tennessee! They are all made with APPLES instead of grapes! Not all of them are sweet (most people assume they are), but I really love their Apple Raspberry Wine because it has a very nice tart/sweet flavor.
I also love all the local wines here in the Yadkin Valley Wine Region of North carolina. Shelton Vineyards has an AMAZING Reisling!

I never liked wine too much, until the Old North State Winery opened in downtown Mt. Airy, NC. They were one of the first co-op wineries in NC, and even though they are no longer a co-op, they still make great, and very inexpensive wines! All are under $15, yet they have the quality of much more expensive brands. Supposedly, when they building they are in was being renovated years ago, they found the arm and hand bones of a person who died years ago! No one ever knew who it was, or what happened, but there are many stories about strange noises and an eerie presence in the downstairs barrel room. Because of all this, they named one of their red wines RESTLESS SOUL, and it is very good!

Hello! I’m sorry, I typed in the wrong email address in my previous comment – so please use this one instead!

I love Shiraz but have to be very careful how much I drink. I once had a few glasses and spent three hours trying to decorate one Christmas ornament. Thank you for the fun contest!

My husband and I are wine fanatics, and we are very partial to the local vineyards in our home state of Maryland. Our current favorite is from St. Michaels Winery, a little vineyard on the Eastern Shore. The wine is called Gollywobbler White, and it was new at the 2007 Autumn Wine Festival. It is the sweetest, cleanest, smoothest wine we have ever tasted. Simply yummy! :)

love local wines and especially my neighbors”

ok, my fav wine is Two Princes Riesling 2004. my husband and i discovered it when we went on a trip to Disneyworld in 2005, during the Epcot Food and Wine festival. we LOVED it, but haven’t been able to find it since. so i would appreciate it if anyone knows where i can get it in the US – it’s German

We love Merlot! My husband is really getting into wine so he would love to have this distinctive holder!

I’m a big fan of Banrock Station’s Chardonnay but I’d love to try the Riesling. The Chardonnay goes great with grilled chicken, red peppers, corn on the cob and thick French bread with lots of butter! The best part is it costs less than $5 at Walmart!!! Sure doesn’t taste like it!

Another great one – and this is a new discovery – but the Wine Cube from Target. I’ve had the Riesling although I can’t find it anymore. Anyway, it’s very reasonable! You get 2 bottles worth for the price of one moderately priced bottle. It takes up less room and stays fresh for a long time!

I love Kenwood Vineyards Reserve-Massara Merlot, Sonoma 2000. It is a little bit pricier than other wines, but it has a very deep, rich, and smooth texture and flavor. It’s one of my favorites. Thanks for the giveaway!

My husband and I have a small vineyard and make our own! Its a lot of work, and I found out the acid of grapes eats away at my hands, but it always turns out really good!

Actually, I’m a total wine novice but my brother-in-law and his wife have been slowly introducing my husband and I to the great wide world of wine! I would love to win these as a gift to them!

  • Beth

    GREAT giveaway!

I have been wanting one of these wine holders for awhile now!

My newest favorite wine is Sagelands Cabernet Sauvignon
    http://www.winesnw.com/sagelandsvineyard.htm

It is just plain good, nice full body but not over powering. Great with just about anything. We eat a lot of red meats so it is always a perfect accompaniment. Though it is excellent with cheese and crackers.

Hey, if you have a chance, please stop by and visit my contest page too!

We found a new wine for us, pomegranite, (spelling?), We like to have it with pasta that has a really spicy sauce. It averages out.

  • http://designedbyrj.blogspot.com/ Nicole RJ

Well we bottle our own red, so I’ll go with white. :) One of my current favorites is Pelee Island’s Gewurztraminer. It’s a bit fruity, and very light. Not too sweet. A perfect summer wine! I’d easily pair it with a chicken dish, or a fruity salad. Better yet – dessert! I also love that it’s an Ontario wine, I generally try to buy as local as possible.

  • Linda Russell

My current favorite is Berringer’s White Zinfadel, a California wine. My mom brought a bottle over for my birthday a few years ago and I have loved it ever since. I try different Zinfadel wines when I am out to dinner but I always come back to Berringers.

  • Catherine copeland

We are still trying to find the perfect wine but there are some excellent ones made in the state of NC and they go with everything

I’ve always been a big fan of anything Reisling (German especially) but after a recent trip to France, French red wine is really growing on me!

I love a Rosemount Shiraz. It’s has a sweet flowery undertones, and it goes well with hearty pasta. What’s not to love?

My husband and I are new to drinking wine and we were introduced to Yellow Tail Cabernet Merlot & Pinot Grigio Cavit and so far we enjoy them very much!!!!! We bought bottles immediately to have at our home. Now we want to buy a wine rack and maybe have a wine refrigerator. This would be a perfect start to our new found hobby!!!

  • Donna Hatcher

this is so neat it would go good with my wine rack

  • Deborah

Years ago, my husband and I were invited to a swanky restaurant by a salesman and his wife. He was trying to land my husband’s account. :-) I was young and inexperienced and totally put on the spot when I was asked to select the wine to go with our steak dinners. The wine list was extensive. I nearly panicked until I saw a name I recognized – Pinot Noir. I’d never had it before, but I’d heard the name. :-) So that’s what I told the waiter to bring. Turned out it was PERFECT with steaks. Also turned out that the salesman and his wife were not wine drinkers at all and didn’t have a clue what to order, so they were really counting on me to pull it off. :-) I’ve never forgotten that experience and to this day I prefer a nice Pinot Noir with a steak. :-)

  • Lori Harrison

my favorite wine is Rutherford Grove’s Savinguan Blanc… crisp and fruity (a lot of pear). It goes wonderfully with a pasta and white sauce.

  • Miss Heidi

I have a mini-bar in my house, so we’re pretty big wine fans here. There are two I love. One is called (don’t laugh!) Vampire wine. The only place I can find it is Meijer around Halloween. Some years they don’t even have it. Anyhow, this is a great wine. It’s got a very sweet taste to it. While it doesn’t advertise as a dessert wine, it certainly seemed that way to me. I also like the Barefoot Blush. It’s got a light crisp taste to it that goes well with most meals. Plus, I’ve hit paydirt, Trader Joe’s sells it for two dollars less than anywhere else! BTW, have you tried Cupcake wine? I’ve seen it advertised in the Cost Plus ad and would love to try it, but I’d like to get some feedback from those who have. Thanks.

While on a trip to the Russian River Valley, inquired about nice restaurants. Among others, the John Ash restaurant was suggested. Not knowing at the time who he was, we went. Asked the sommelier for a wine suggestion. Immediately replied “J”. As with the restaurant, had never heard of the vineyard, but again, accepted the suggestion. Needless to say the dinner and wine were excellent! So now we have “J” selections shipped to us every other month.

  • Elizabeth M.

I’ll be honest. I don’t know enough about wine to have a favorite. My husband is the one that picks it out all the time so I just have what he’s having and I usually like it.

  • http://www.fabfoods.blogspot.com Deb D.

    Great giveaway!

Well, my husband makes wine with his brother and cousin, so that would be my favorite. But Barefoot wines come in a close second. They are so affordable! I really like the Cabernet, and just had some the other night with pasta with meat sauce and a ton of Parmesean cheese. Yum!

  • Joyce Pawlik

We know enjoy a moderately priced California Merlot with our steaks, because great Cabernats now cost so much. We still have some fine Lafites, and Haut-Brions’ from the seventies in our celler for special occasions.

  • http://www.TheWineHolder.com Jay Dacey

Hey everyone, it’s Jay Dacey from The Wine Holder. Say, I’ve done a special favor exclusively for Cookerati readers.

I’ve cut the price for the wine holders to only $9.95 but ONLY for this weekend. Come Monday morning the price is going back to normal.

I’ve turned off my ad words account because I don’t want anyone else able to get this same deal.

We have only 23 left in stock right now and 3 of them go to the winner of the contest, so they will probably go fast, there are over 80 comments already! That means only 1 in 4 will be able to buy.

If you are unhappy for any reason we do have a 110% money back gaurantee AND 10% of our sales are donated to a local non profit so you’re doing good too!

I look forward to your orders!

My favorite red wine to drink for an every night occasion is Vendange Cabernet, very inexpensive at less than $10 for the large bottle. Full body, big taste. For special occasions, I prefer the Guenoc Red table wine. I’ve tasted it, loved it, and now have it aging in my cellar.
