Cruzan Guava Rum, Piña Coladas and Cool Summer Drinks

I have some summer drinks I want to share with you.  They’re cool and refreshing and just what you need on a hot summer day.

CruzanGuavaBottleShot

1.  Cruzan Guava Rum - I’ll post a few recipes, but you don’t really need it.  Just put the Guava Rum over some ice and sip it.  The alcohol content isn’t real strong, but the Guava is sweet and good.  You feel  like you are sitting on an island or maybe you just feel like you should be beachside. Be careful though, you may drink the whole bottle without noticing because it tastes divine.

Here are some recipes for  cool Guava Rum drinks:

Guava Good Time

1&1/2 part Cruzan Guava

2 part mango juice

1 part apricot juice

Shake and strain over fresh ice into a highball. Garnish with a slice of fruit (guava, mango, apricot or all of them)

Cruzan Coral Reef

1 part Cruzan Guava

1 part Cruzan Coconut

2 part pink grapefruit juice

Shake ingredients and strain over fresh ice into a tumbler. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

St Croix Sunset

2 oz Cruzan Guava

1oz Pineapple Juice

2oz 7 up or Sprite

Squeeze of lime

Build ingredients over ice into a highball and garnish with a squeeze of lime.

Go to the Cruzan Rum site for more recipes.  Cruzan has other flavored rums that are just delicious.   http://cruzanrum.com/  The Cruzan website even has videos of someone making the different drink recipes to make it even easier to follow.

2. Piña Colada.   Today is national Piña Colada day.  Piña Coladas are one of my favorite drinks.

My husband says I have to post two Piña Colada recipes, one for each hand.  Mount Gay Eclipse Silver Rum sent us this.

3. Gold Peak Tea.

When I have  a big family gathering, I will make a jug of iced tea.  However, if we are traveling, like we did for the weekend of the 4th, we will pick up some bottles of iced tea to go along.  My husband likes Gold Peak’s Lemon or the Sweetened Tea.  I like the unsweetened best.  I also like the green.  The diet is sweet without any diet aftertaste.  Gold Peak even has it’s own refreshing recipes.

Gold Peak Sunrise

with Gold Peak Green Tea

Recipe Summary

Liven up your day with this family-friendly citrus tea beverage.

  • 3oz Gold Peak Green Tea
  • 3oz Sprite®
  • 3oz Minute Maid® Light
  • Lemonade
  • Lemon Slice
  • Fresh mint sprig

Combine in a glass half full with ice. Add lemon slice and mint sprig, stir and serve.

Here’s a tip: Gold Peak comes in a carafe-like glass bottle that makes a great tabletop decoration. After you enjoy the tea, just fill the bottle with water and transform it into a flower vase. (My sister in law does this too!)

4. Iced Coffee Recipes from Organic Green Mountain Coffee.

Iced Coffee is one of my favorite summer treats, and organic means it gets more points.  I make extra coffee in the morning and put it in a glass jar in the fridge for later.  Green Mountain has directions to make Iced Coffee on it’s website but they use really fresh coffee. Iced Coffee Directions

You could smell the raspberry as soon as you opened the bag of Raspberry Rhapsody coffee.  It had a little bit of a bitter edge to it but was still very good and the raspberry flavor came through well.  I made iced coffee with this and it was delicious.

5.  Simplest Ice Cold Picnic drink ever.

When we go on trips, sometimes we want a drink that is more cleansing than sweet.  So we’ll pack up the orange jug with ice and water and keep it in the van for when we need it.  On camping or hiking trips we can refill our canteens with cold water straight from the jug.  When we go to a picnic, we put the jug up on a table and people drink it all day long.
