Sorry about such late notice, my email is backlogged from band season and I’m getting through everything as quickly as I can.  Fortunately, you still have a few hours to come up with a great recipe and enter today – November 14.

image This year, create a meatball recipe fit for your Thanksgiving table and enter it in the “Give Thanks to Mama (Lucia)” Meatball Recipe Contest sponsored by Quaker Maid Meats. Who knows – maybe you’ll start a new holiday tradition!

Entries will be judged on creativity, eye and taste appeal, and suitability for Thanksgiving.

First prize is a 6-Quart Crock-Pot Smart-Pot with Countdown Slow Cooker, complete with programmable cooking times from 30 minutes to 20 hours. Second and third prizes are 4-Quart Crock-Pot Slow Cookers with Travel Bag for toting to picnics, potlucks and parties of all types.

The contest runs from August 15 through November 14.  Winners will be selected by December 1. Recipes can be submitted to mamaluciacontest@sspr.com

Alter Eco –  a Fair Trade brand based out of San Francisco launched a Fair Trade Cooking Challenge this month in honor of Fair Trade Month.
