Today was a busy day.  My son went to Track Camp – we were worried about the heat but it’s an indoor track.  My daughter has an ear infection.  I took her to Urgent Care after work and for the first time ever she filled out her own forms, gave them her own insurance card, and even signed for her own prescriptions.  She’s so grown.  Then we picked up some precooked meals at Kroger’s and heated them in the microwave.  Some nights that’s the way it goes.

Yesterday, I gave my husband a nice new in the box, grill for Father’s Day.  Our old one is much smaller and is well, old.  We were walking through the store picking up stuff for dinner when I mentioned getting food to barbecue for dinner.  My husband groaned and said – oh, that grill is not put together, I’ll have to assemble it.  I told him that the kids have offered to put the grill together for you, but I said I wasn’t sure whether you would want it.  My dear hubby smiled and said that they won’t need to do anything having to do with the propane and it would make him really happy if they did that.  The kids were thrilled, poor kids didn’t have money for a present and were trying to decide on something other than mowing the lawn.  Mowing would have taken less time and been much easier.  It took over 3 hours for them to get the whole thing together.  I don’t think they know how much my husband appreciates that present.  He hates having to assemble anything.  It usually takes lots of time and cussing before something is completed.  I know that was probably the best present ever.

I entered my wine tasting for Barbourville in the Shenandoah’s into Wine Imbiber’s Weekly Swirl, Sniff, Sip, Spit contest and won a choice of a prize. If you are on vacation, that’s a perfect time to find a local winery, do a wine tasting and try something new.  Not all local wines can be shipped out, because it’s cost prohibitive for some of the smaller companies, so go to them when you are in the area.  We bought some wines in Michigan that I just love, that I can’t get shipped to me because I’m in another state.  Anyway, when you return, go to Wine Imbiber and enter your visit into their database – which will then enter you into their contest.  If you win, you get a choice from all of these wine related prizes.  I chose a gift certificate to Wine Country Woods.  They have some really neat stuff; their wine soaked chips and boards for grilling caught my eye.  I thought it would go well with that present for my husband.  What do you think?
