I didn’t grow up a coffee drinker.  We weren’t allowed coffee or tea when we were younger.  Two reasons, first, not enough money, so the kids drank water or kool aid, except at meals when we drank milk.  The other is that my mom didn’t believe children should have caffeine.  Well, I never cared for the taste of coffee as a kid, a teen, a college kid, but suddenly a few years ago I slowly started drinking it.  I don’t know why, but the hot chocolate I was used too suddenly seemed too sweet.  I liked the chemical cappuccino from the machines, but they seemed sweet also.  Slowly, I added more coffee and less cappuccino.  Now I still like my coffee sweet, but not overly so.  My daughter drinks it with milk and no sugar, my dad always drank it black with sugar.  Green Mountain Coffee is my favorite, that and Nell’s Breakfast Blend (a Newman’s own brand).  When I started looking for coffee, I decided to pick it from the organic section.  I’m the one making the coffee decisions, so organic it is.  I went through the brands, and I liked Green Mountain best. 

Green Mountain Roasters sent me some coffee to review, and boy was I happy, because I already knew what it tasted like.  The Fair Trade Organic House blend is delicious and smooth a little bold and a dark-medium roast and has a great aroma.  The Columbia Fair Trade Select was a little lighter and still not acidic and very delicious.  

Green Mountain seems to be a company with a conscience.  They were voted No 1 on the list of "100 Best Corporate Citizens"  and has been recognized by Forbes, Fortune, Small Business and the Society of Human Resource Management a an innovative, high-growth, socially responsible company. I’m not an expert.  I can’t taste plums, or apple or anything other than coffee, unless it is infused with something, like the Raspberry Rhapsody is.  I just know what I like.  I do drink, enjoy and like other brands, and I will buy what I can afford and what’s on sale.  Green Mountain is on the favorites list, because it tastes good and because they are good.   Green Mountain can be found in stores, and also online.  They even have a newsletter.  Green Mountain Coffee
