Green Up Halloween With Reusable Bags For Your Candy

I put my reusables to work all year long, so why not take them for Halloween to haul home the candy.  Some people have already done their trick or treating, if it’s too late for you,  you can always plan for next year.  What you don’t need is a new plastic bag that you’ll use for Halloween and throw out afterwards.

1. Easiest – just pick out a reusable bag that you already have in your possession. I have bags I use for shopping for groceries, pet food, clothes, the farmer’s market, etc.

2. Chico bags makes reusable bags that are specialty items even one designed especially for Halloween.  The design for the bag is decided on at a Halloween contest the year before.image

3. A bucket – if you have a small bucket or pail, that would work just fine.

4. Thrift Store finds – We had plastic pumpkins that we used for a really long time.  We found them at a thrift store, you can find all kinds great stuff there. Find something that can be used over and over and over again.

5. Hand me downs – I have bunches of nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters, and in-laws.  Somewhere someone is getting rid of something useful.  It’s only good if you need it though, you don’t want to be a dumping ground. I passed down costumes when my kids were done with them.  I think I passed on my plastic pumpkins also.

6. If none of the other options appeal to you, there’s always a craft store find.  You can get a cotton bag and paint a nice Halloween picture on it and use it every year until you pass it down to the next family member.

Happy Halloween hope you get lots of nice treats and no tricks.

I have almost become obsessed with getting reusable bags LOL I have almost every one from Trader Joe’s and all the other health food stores like The Fresh Market and Whole Foods. Fun!

All the kids around here use pillow cases!
