Hey Mint Lovers Join June’s Culinary Smackdown

Written by Diana - June 30, 2012 4 Comments

I chose mint as the theme for this month’s culinary smackdown  – see the rules in a previous post.  Basically you enter your recipe in the smackdown, then I choose a winner with a roundup of all the recipes.  The next winner gets to host next month’s smackdown and choose next month’s ingredient or theme.

Since I’ve been on vacation for the last ten days in Crawford, Co, I am going to reshare my drink of 2011 – Peach Mint Vodka Cocktail.  I still need to come up with this year’s drink, this is a good one though and it has yummy mint. Link up below with your minty entries.  I am extending the date to the 3rd since I won’t be home until then anyway.  I will choose the winner and post on the 4th.

Here it is:

Peach Mint Vodka Cocktail
Refreshing Summery Cocktail - great for a seasonal drink when mint and peaches are both at the farm markets
Recipe type: Drink
  • 1 Juicy peach
  • 1 big handful of mint leaves
  • 3 ounces of vodka
  • Lemon Lime Soda or Ginger Ale
  1. Slice a peach into a pint jar.
  2. Throw in mint plus some vodka (OYO again) to soak.
  3. Mash it up with a spoon, then let it sit for a few minutes for the flavors to blend.
  4. Pour into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake.
  5. Divide into glasses and add a little of your favorite sparkly soda (like a lemon lime or ginger ale).
The peaches are sweet, so you don’t need a simple syrup. Light and delicious with a fresh minty finish – oh it’s good.

I’m up with Part 1 of my entry.

I told IE that I made a mojita on the 4th for The Mrs.  Mint that I stole with my own hands from my neighbor (it is pretty much is a weed growing everywhere, so the neighbor doesn’t mind).  The Mrs. thought I had too much rum in it – which I did.  I have to get her in a good mood some how.  I might try this peach cocktail on her.

Well Buzz, maybe you had too much alcohol, or maybe you just needed more mint and other stuff.  I love a good mojito. I’m working to get my mint to be more invasive.  I might regret it later, but I love the way it tastes and smells.

I’ll wait on your recipe, since you are the only entry, you get to do July…
