Holiday Gift Guide: Certified Humane Beef – and Win a Sampler Too!

When the Meyer Natural Angus people contacted me and asked if I’d like to try and give away a sampler of their Certified Humane Angus Beef, I was intrigued. “Certified Humane” sounds like something I should know about – and something I’d approve of.

Indeed it is…

To quote the Humane Farm Animal Care Website:

The Certified Humane Raised and Handled program is the only farm animal welfare and food labeling program in the U.S. dedicated to improving the welfare of farm animals from birth through slaughter for the 10 billion farm animals raised for food each year.

I’m all for that. I’m not a vegetarian, I do enjoy a nice steak or even some chicken. However, I do believe in treating our animal friends with respect and dignity and not tending to them in an inhumane manner simply because they’re being raised for food.

What does it mean when meat or poultry is Certified Humane?

It means the animals have a good life. They are raised to enjoy life on green pastures and not in slaughter houses. It means they aren’t injected with chemicals or hormones and that they’re not subjected to pain. They’re raised with resting spots, shelter and in a loving environment.

The Meyer Natural Angus beef isn’t only cruelty free, it’s darn good. Mr. Ng loves nothing mre than to grill up a steak on the weekend and is very vocal to cuts of meat that don’t live up to their packing. We enjoyed the sampler the Meyer Natural Angus company so generously provided for the purpose of this review. We didn’t marinade or cover the beef with overpowering rubs. We used some salt and pepper and charred it to perefection. People, this is the real deal.

I would get the 2 (10 oz) USDA Prime Ribeye Steaks, the 4 5oz USDA Prime Filet Mignon and the 2 (10 oz) USDA Prime Top Sirloin Steaks all for my husband! He’s a huge steak fan and although I don’t know much about steak I’d get these for him based on what I’ve heard him talk about.

I had never hear of your blog until I saw the giveaway on Online Sweepstakes so I subscribed. Looking forward to learning more about you blog. I would choose Meyer Natural Angus Sampler for myself because I live by myself. I love beef and appreciate the fact that it is Certified Humane. This was a first for me, also. You ask me what is my favorite cut of beef and I’d have to say the Prime Ribeye package because I like a little marbling. The next would be the New York Steak Package because it talks about “aging”, most people don’t realize that aged steak is better. My Dad was a cook in the Air Force and that is one of the first things he taught me in the kitchen was to always buy aged steak that the flavor is best and I agree. I have no family living near me so guess I would keep all of it. Maybe I should share one package with my Youth Pastor at church. He and his wife probably don’t eat steak often since they have new triplets and a 18mo old. This would be something they could enjoy since the oldest would be the only one to share with yet. They are a precious family and I guess I should share. This is a major giving time of year and I should cheerfully share. Thanks for the chance to enter.

I know that my youngest sister would like the 4 (5 oz) USDA Prime Filet Mignon Steaks since this is her favorite cut of beef.

If somebody needs a special treat it is my brother and sister-in-law. I picked out the 8 Prime Ribeye Steaks #933312 for them.
