My Daughter Gets Me
Written by Diana - October 27, 2009 2 Comments
My daughter was home for the weekend. She met up with some friends for the pumpkin show, and hung out. Daughters are a great thing, they are the ones who get you, when the guys don’t. I came home tired and beat from another football game, out in the pouring rain until halftime, over an hour away from home. We were talking and she mentioned that she saw that I organized the shelf with my spices. My cabinets are very small and difficult to organize; spices are especially a challenge. I perked up because she noticed and said, “Did you see what I did?” That made her ask, “Did you alphabetize them too? Oh look, you even labeled the tops so that we can pull them out without searching through each one. “ I told her that I loved her and glad that someone appreciates what I do. My husband and son chuckled when I tried to show them the spice shelf, and then when I pointed out that I alphabetized them, my son started laughing harder and rearranging them.
They really had a good laugh at mom, it was funny to them. I explained to my College Girl that I loved that she got me, because it wasn’t easy living with guys who don’t really care about that stuff. She hugged me, and said she was sorry that I had to go through that, and that they just don’t understand.
Daughters are really cool.

That’s awesome. My spices are in a cabinet that’s up high (I can barely reach them). My husband always wants to throw them out because he doesn’t see the purpose in them and doesn’t think I use them. Of course he’s never home when I’m cooking supper, and if he is he’s outside somewhere not checking out what spices I’m using for the marinade, or soup. Even when he grills I do the before prep. He thinks food just magically tastes good, lol.
My son gets it a little, he loves to experiment with food, but he’d look at me like I was crazy if I actually organized my spices.
