Spife Giveaway

Written by Diana - August 24, 2009 41 Comments

We have tried out the spifes and they are winners, and the best tool for eating kiwi for lunch.  I keep one in my desk and have one at home.  My son will take one to school on days he eats kiwi for lunch.  Before the spife he wouldn’t consider kiwi for lunch because it was too messy.  Kiwis are so good for you too.

According to Zespri – Kiwifruit are great sources of dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, folic acid, vitamin E, carotenoids and other antioxidants. They also have a low glycaemic index (GI) and are low in fat – so they’re perfect to eat every day to assist with natural protection.

Zespri offered to giveaway a pack of spifes to one person commenting on our site.  So comment away, tell us what you think of a spife – would you send it to school with your child for lunches?  Would you use it yourself?  An extra entry for a tweet.

Giveaway closes on August 26th, midnight, EST.

Never heard of a spife, where can I find one. If they make eating kiwis easier I’m all for it. I love kiwis, but don’t like having to peel them to eat. I’m guessing with a spife I can cut the kiwi and scoop it out to eat, much like a melon? Where can I find one?

      Nita,
So far you’ve got a good chance of winning a pack of spifes here since you are the only entry. There are a lot of spife giveaways going on, do a search on the internet and enter them all, you’re sure to win one of them. :)

Wow! I have never heard of a Spife tool and I would love to win one. I think using the tool would encourage me to buy more kiwis and eat them which in turn would help bring in more nutrients into my body. I think this tool would be great with other fruits too. I hope I win! :-)

Great idea! Would you give away a Spife to a Kiwi person ie. me! By the way – we call them Kiwifruit, not just Kiwi, in New Zealand :)

    • http://cookerati.com Diana

You are so right, they are kiwifruit, because otherwise you might be referring to the bird(?) – and we don’t use spifes to cut birds – that would not be a good thing for our lunch room. Here’s something for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdUUx5FdySs . Kiwi also refers to a person from New Zealand, but we won’t use spifes on them either. So kiwifruit it is! I love them.

I would send them to school with my daughter. She loves to take Kiwi fruit to school but I hate cutting them up for her lunch box. This way she could do it herself once she was at school and the fruit wouldn’t become mushy.

I have to be honest here, I think I would actually send it to work with my husband lol. I think the look on his face would be priceless, when he first pulls it out of his lunchbox ;) He would definitely love it, after the first initial shock of, what in the world is that?!?

Devon is obsessed since she first saw these- she has a funny little name for them but it is not spife. I wouldn’t have a choice but to send with her, she’d be all over calling dibs. Thanks for the chance to win.

I’ve never heard of a spife either. But I do eat a lot of kiwis because they’re high in potassium and my doctor recommended them. Plus they’re yummy! So if this makes it easier to eat them, then I’m all for it. Thanks.

    Beth,

I wonder if some of the other schools would think like that. You can try to win it for yourself or for the kids at home. My son used it at home because the spoon is the perfect size and shape for scooping out the kiwi(fruit).

  • Mishia

I’d pack a spife in my lunch for work.
