To promote their contest Star is sponsoring a giveaway a week for the next 3 weeks on Cookerati. The prize is a complimentary gift pack from STAR® Fine Foods which includes a 17 oz. bottle of STAR® Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a “Taste of the Mediterranean” recipe book.
Giveaway Rules for Oct 16th through 22nd, 2009:
- Leave a comment telling us what Mediterranean ingredient you would use in your recipe besides Star extra virgin olive oil.
- US residents only
- One comment per person
- Contest ends Midnight (EST) October 22nd.
One extra entry (only one) can be gained by doing one of the following (let us know in the comments what you have done)

I’d make a garlic, shrimp, a few tomatoes, and add that to some pasta. Add a sprinkle of some good Italian cheese and some crusty Italian bread

I would use Chicken and green beans

I would use foccacia, roasted garlic, freshly ground black pepper and the best Parmigiano Reggiano I could find, rub the garlic over the bread then generously drizzle with the oil and a good sprinkle of the black pepper and top with a good helping of the shredded cheese and pop into a 400º F oven until the cheese melts.

I just made a Mediterranean dish that used olive oil, lentils, tomatoes, red peppers, onions and eggplant. We eat mainly a Mediterranean diet of fish, beans, olive oil, lots of vegetables and fruits!
