Love those colors. The brown looked like dark purple to me and I thought it was a nice combo. I love different plates, bowls and mugs and stuff. She has basically furnished her apartment and equipped her kitchen with either thrift store finds or things we gave her (she got a LOT from us when we moved to South America). All her dishes were picked up at various Goodwills. She got an almost compete set that are sold through Pier One Imports, for a mere fraction of the cost. She loves those finds!
