Think Pink – Butter Bell Crock

Butter Bell has a pink butter crock and 1.75 of each pink crock sale goes towards Susan G. Komen’s – Komen for the Cure Foundation. The crock is a pretty pink with a small handle that holds a spreader. I love the crock.
Let me admit first that when my mom was visiting and I used the crock, she would say “here’s the butter in this thing. I don’t get it though.” My mom doesn’t actually use butter all that much. I love the crock though which is made from stoneware or dolomite clay. You put your butter in the cup and add some cold water to the crock part. Not too much or it will spill when you turn the cup of butter upside down into it. What is great is that when you put the butter out on the table, the water will keep it cool and keep the air from getting to it and making it rancid. This works so well when we have dinner and someone forgets to put the butter into the fridge, or we finish breakfast and run out to church without clearing because we’re running late. In the crock, the butter will be just fine.
The crock can be kept in the fridge like your other butter dish and be brought out as needed. For family gatherings, you can bring it out to the table and then leave it out turned upside down into the crock for people to use as needed. I really hate when butter starts to turn or else it is rock hard and you can’t spread it. I remember one person coming to my house when I was cooking and pulling out a whole new stick of butter when I had one out I was using, saying – I don’t know how long that one was sitting out so I got another one. (grr) With my butter crock, it’s not a problem the water keeps the air away from the butter and helps it stay fresh. No more excuses, and no more questionable butter. You can keep the butter with refridgeration up to 30 days, which is longer than it lasts in my home.
These crocks don’t just come in pink, there are plenty of other ones for all different occasions. Plus many more colors and other hand painted ones to match any decor. Buying the pink one with the pink spreader will let people know you are supporting breast cancer research. My suggestion would be to buy more than one so you can put out different flavored butters at your gatherings.
