Video Product Review and Giveaway: Magic Bullet Platinum Pro

Magic Bullet Platinum Pro

By now you’ve surely seen the infomercial for the Magic Bullet. In the commercial you see the happy couple playing host to house guests on the morning after what appears to have been a hell of a party. In 30 minutes the couple whips smoothies, omelets, cheese for nachos and more with this amazing machine – to the astonishment of the their guests. The infomercial is lame, but entertaining. Is it true though? Does the Magic Bullet do all they say it does?

So I gave it a whirl…

I was given the chance to review the Magic Bullet Platinum Pro for a couple of my blogs. I’m here to tell you it’s a nice little machine. It’s compact, so it only takes up a small area of my counter and it’s very simple to use. There aren’t a whole lot of button and features, and the manual wasn’t written by the Army Corps of Engineers. I like that I only have to put the container on top the Magic Bullet base and turn for it to work. I use it ever morning for my morning smoothie and another plus is that I can blend right in the mug. That means only the mug needs washing. I’ve made guacamole with this and grated cheese and each time it works like a charm. I even put in frozen fruit for a frozen fruit smoothie and again, no simple and quick.

To give you an idea of how easy it is, I did a video review as well:

Now, I do have one small gripe and that’s all the Magic Bullet components. I have no where to store it all. If you’re going to design a product for people who have no space on their counters, you need to include items that are easy to store. But beyond that small nitpick, the Magic Bullet Platinum Pro is worth every bit of the $100 you’ll pay for it.

Like the Magic Bullet? Would you like to win one? Tell us in the comments what you would use your Magic Bullet for – include recipes if you’d like. We’ll draw a winner at random on Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I would use it to grind flaxseed to use as an egg replacer in my vegan baking recipes. I would also use it to grind toasty spices to make fabulous Indian food. Here’s a recipe!

    1/3 cup olive oil
    3 green cardamon pods
    3 dried red chiles
    1 Tbsp coriander seed
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    1/2 tsp whole peppercorns
1 head of cauliflower, broken into florets
1 med red onion, cut into wedges
    salt

Preheat oven to 425* F. Grease a large baking dish and set aside. Grind spices until finely ground. Toss spices with olive oil and cauliflower. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes until tender and a bit roasty in spots. Salt to taste. Devour.
