Video Product Review and Giveaway: Magic Bullet Platinum Pro
Written by Deb - April 11, 2008 501 CommentsBy now you’ve surely seen the infomercial for the Magic Bullet. In the commercial you see the happy couple playing host to house guests on the morning after what appears to have been a hell of a party. In 30 minutes the couple whips smoothies, omelets, cheese for nachos and more with this amazing machine – to the astonishment of the their guests. The infomercial is lame, but entertaining. Is it true though? Does the Magic Bullet do all they say it does?
So I gave it a whirl…
I was given the chance to review the Magic Bullet Platinum Pro for a couple of my blogs. I’m here to tell you it’s a nice little machine. It’s compact, so it only takes up a small area of my counter and it’s very simple to use. There aren’t a whole lot of button and features, and the manual wasn’t written by the Army Corps of Engineers. I like that I only have to put the container on top the Magic Bullet base and turn for it to work. I use it ever morning for my morning smoothie and another plus is that I can blend right in the mug. That means only the mug needs washing. I’ve made guacamole with this and grated cheese and each time it works like a charm. I even put in frozen fruit for a frozen fruit smoothie and again, no simple and quick.
To give you an idea of how easy it is, I did a video review as well:
Now, I do have one small gripe and that’s all the Magic Bullet components. I have no where to store it all. If you’re going to design a product for people who have no space on their counters, you need to include items that are easy to store. But beyond that small nitpick, the Magic Bullet Platinum Pro is worth every bit of the $100 you’ll pay for it.
Like the Magic Bullet? Would you like to win one? Tell us in the comments what you would use your Magic Bullet for – include recipes if you’d like. We’ll draw a winner at random on Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Love this product – yes had to rearrange cabinets to fit everything in one place (my dad got it for me for x-mas it was on sale for $35 at Kohls -he always has to tell me when he gets a bargin) Anyway – I use it every morning for breakfast – one banana, 1/2 low fat yogurt, naked juice an some frozen fruit oh so yummy – to take it work I put plastic wrap on the top before I screw on the cover. It is so good and it gets me to eat something in the morning

I bought my son one for his wedding and he is so happy with it and me. I was over there a few times now and he offered to make me a smoothie, It was the best thing I have tasted. I have thought about buying one and now that I have seen how easy it really is to use, I will probably have to get one of these units. That old Kitchen Aid with a million pieces will have to move to the basement.

Wow, the possibilities are endless!! Basil Pesto, basil, pine nuts, garlic and EVO. Smoothies, using fresh or frozen fruit, yogurt, juice. Milkshakes; fave ice cream and a little milk (I like em thick) Roasted Red (or any colour) Pepper sauce. Of course fresh guacamole.
(I have secretly wanted one of these since I first saw it on an informercial, but was hesitant, cause I didn’t want my hubby or kids to laugh at me) lol
Victoria Ross on April 11, 2008 at 9:28 pm
margueritas!!
Cindy M on April 11, 2008 at 9:32 pm
My neighbors have one of these and it makes the best darn margarita you’ll ever have. I’m not even going to pretend I’d use this for food.
I’d use it to make my favorite drink I discovered down in the Domincan Repulic: The Caipirinha (pronounced Ky-per-a-nia).
DRINK RECIPE
Caipirinha
2 oz. White Rum
1 Lime
1 tsp. Sugar
Soda Water
Use a tall “tom collins” type glass. Cut the lime into 8 wedges and put in the Magic Bullet. Add sugar and ice cubes. Turn on Magic Bullet and crush it for about 10 to 15 seconds–don’t make it too fine a mash. Leave chunks of ice and lime. Put this mixute into the glass and fill with soda water. Stir and enjoy!

With a Magic bullet and a microwave…who needs anything more!
Exotic Fruit Smoothie – 4 servings.
Syrup
* 1 length lemongrass
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup
Frappe
* 2 cups diced fresh pineapple
* 2 cups diced fresh mango
* 1 cup diced fresh papaya
* 1 diced banana
* 2 passion fruits
* 2 cups ice cubes
* 2 1/2 cups yogurt
(based upon a large blender – cut it down for the bullet) Pulse half of fruit with half the sugar syrup, 1 cup of ice cubes and 1 1/4 cups yogurt until blended and frothy. A little for later – Pour some of mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze and store remaining smoothie mixture in fridge until ready to serve. The frozen ice cubes add coolness to the smoothie but do not dilute the flavor.

Just one use??? I can think of at least 80 [cuz that's the number of comments], but I will limit it to just one.
- Deviled Eggs
Ingredients
12 eggs
1 cup of mayonaisse
1/2 cup webbers horseradish mustard [any other pedestrian brand will be ok]
1 TBSP dill weed
Paprika for color and a little bit extra flavor.
Method:
1. Hard boil the eggs – for perfect hard-boiled eggs, place all of the eggs in a pan, cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and cover. Let sit for 20 minutes. Drain and cool eggs.
2. Peel the eggs.
3. Cut eggs in half, place whites on a platter to serve, yolks go in the magic bullet mixing apparatus.
4. Add mayo, mustard and dill week.
5. Using magic bullet, mix well.
6. Transfer mix to your favorite pastry press. Press mixture into stars into the circle part of the white. If you don’t care to get that fancy, just spoon the mixture out.
7. Sprinkle with the paprika.
8. Refrigerate.
9 Serve as appetizers.
10. Amaze your friends.

I had gastric-bypass surgery two years ago. Initially, I used my Magic Bullet to pulverize my food, as my doctor directed at the early stages after surgery. Now I use it every day to make my protein shake, sometimes other treats. It still works as good as when it was new, but I would buy a new one in a heartbeat if this one should stop working.

I would use a magic bullet to make lots of things, but especially Peach Salsa for my son. He loves it and it’s really easy.
Peach Salsa
2 cans Del Monte Stewed tomatoes
1 can Del Monte peaches, drained
1 bunch cilantro
1/2 t. salt
1 t. ground cumin
1-2 jalapenos , cut and seeded, if you like it mild, only use 1 jalapeno
Place all ingredients in blender and process until everything is chopped up and mixed well. Serve with tortilla chips.
****This recipe might need to be cut in half for a magic bullet, it makes quite a lot of salsa.

I love to take ours in the RV. I have ice cubes in the freezer and make sorbets for a light dessert: fruit juice or fresh fruit, a little vanilla, and ice cubes. Add more juice and some low-fat yogurt and you’ve got a perfect smoothie. So versatile because you can use any fruit in the area!

I always pay too much for pre shreadded cheese and could save a lot of money if I purchased a brick of cheese and grated my own. I am too lazy, but this would be perfect for it.

I would use it to grind flaxseed to use as an egg replacer in my vegan baking recipes. I would also use it to grind toasty spices to make fabulous Indian food. Here’s a recipe!
1/3 cup olive oil
3 green cardamon pods
3 dried red chiles
1 Tbsp coriander seed
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp whole peppercorns
1 head of cauliflower, broken into florets
1 med red onion, cut into wedges
salt
Preheat oven to 425* F. Grease a large baking dish and set aside. Grind spices until finely ground. Toss spices with olive oil and cauliflower. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes until tender and a bit roasty in spots. Salt to taste. Devour.
G Parmar on April 29, 2010 at 9:00 pm
lot of baking preparation, blending spices, grinding various things such as garlic/tomatoes/onions etc. so kids don’t notice it in the cooking/pick it out…
