Win Sauce …and A Microwave from Bertolli

 Bertolli Premium Sauce

Bertolli has a line of premium sauces that dress up the spaghetti a lot nicer than your regular Ragu. With varieties such as Summer Crushed Tomato and Basil and Champignon and Portobello Mushroom, you almost feel as if you’re eating at a bistro instead of your kitchen table. My husband and I enjoy the Sun Ripened Tomato with Olives, by the way – we think it’s great on tortellini.

What I love most about these sauces is their convenience. I don’t have to dirty pots and pans, I simply microwave the pouch and we’re good to go.  So…great tasting specialty sauce in a microwave pouch. Yeah, I’m digging that.

GE MicrowaveBertolii wants you to dig it too! They’re giving away three pouches of Bertolli sauce to a lucky Cookerati winner. And to make sure you get the full effect, they’ll even toss in the microwave. Sweet! This is a $100 value so if your husband gets you some lame Christmas present like a paper shredder (No dear, I’m still not over it) you’ll at least have this to make up for it.

OK, you know me. I need my rules and regs and today is no exception. I always believe when a generous sponsor is involved, we need to offer props. So, I’d like you to show your support by dropping by the Bertolli website and telling us what sauce you’d like to try – and how you will make it. For instance, will you use it over pasta and if so, what kind? Will you use it as a dipping sauce? If so, what will be dunked? Go wild and use your imagination. Creativity counts,

The contest ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Be there or be square.

(And if you think this week’s and last week’s contests were awesome, just wait to see what’s in store for next week!)

Here are the deets on the microwave:

GE – Model JES1142WD microwave with the following features (valued at $100):– 1.1 cu. ft. capacity — 1,100 Watts (IEC-705 test procedure)

– Convenience cooking controls — Allows cooking and reheating at the touch of a button

– Turntable — Continually rotates food to ensure even cooking

– Timer On/Off — Optional reminder signals when meals are done

Good luck!

During the summer months, I grill eggplant slices that are bathed in olive oil and sprinkled with herbs and garlic. I freeze the slices in packets of foil for winter meals, and my favorite way to use them is with Bertolli’s Summer Crushed Tomato and Basil. I add the thawed eggplant slices, which I cut up with a kitchen shears and simmer them in the Bertolli sauce. For a more Mediterranean flavor, it’s tasy using Bertolli’s Sun Ripened Tomato and Olive Sauce. This meatless creation is a hearty sauce that is enjoyed over Jasmine rice or fettucine!
