WW – Chard From My Ohio Winter Garden

Written by Diana - January 21, 2010 6 Comments

What a nice surprise after a dreary, cloud covered day, chard from my garden that I used for our dinner.  Isn’t that the coolest – in the middle of winter?!  It’s just a little bit, but it was so delicious. ( PS ignore the wilty looking stems – I pulled that part out).

Chard? I never had a chance to plant it…look beautiful! I am sure that tastes better than the ones in the groceries :-)

If you are in Ohio, you want to wait until the ground isn’t frozen to plant it. My chard is leftover from fall and in a raised bed. Chard is a great early spring/ late fall (and sometimes winter) green. My husband is going to put a tunnel over it so we can see if we’ll get more. It’s so beautiful too.

That looks so beautiful! I don’t know if I have ever eaten chard? leafy things aren’t typically something I’m leaned towards – but I’m trying more things all the time

It must be nice to pull something out of the garden this time of year. The best I was able to do was having some English cukes that made ot to late October.
